"After moving to Miami I began submitting songs to a friend at RCA in hopes of securing a record deal for myself. I was introduced to a radio show host named Randy Thomas through a friend. Randy was impressed with my writing and wanted to introduce me to Bobby Caldwell.
Randy brought me to a session at Quad Radial studio in Miami where Caldwell was recording. We waited at least 10 hours for Bobby to be finished with the session. Sometime the next morning Randy talked Bobby into listening to my music. He couldn’t have been less excited as he listened to the first two songs. But the third song he flipped out. He asked to help him write the August Moon LP with him and I agreed. I loved Miami so much so and it was good for my writing. I played various gigs including The Playboy Club and session work to support myself.
Musicians on album were: Jimmy Haslip, David Hungate, Larry London and Jeff Picaro. I co-wrote three songs: Fraulein, She Does it Better and Saying Goodnight with Bobby and I have good memories the two year experience."
