HISTORY • Doug Maynard Band (1983-1989)

"There were several versions of the Doug Maynard band.  The version I performed with had Mike Rivard, Scott Sansby and Doug Maynard.  I met Doug at a gig I was playing with my band during the early 80’s and extended an open offer for me to join his band.  This version quickly became a progressive rock, blues and jazz band.  Doug really brought it to the limit with extremely powerful vocal presents.  He was the singer who could sing three notes at once.  He didn’t live very long but his career is legendary in Europe.

On stage with Doug we would often see Prince listening to the band at clubs like the Uptown Bar or Williams Pub back in the day.  The gigs were so intense I would fall asleep on breaks. "
Doug’s voice combined with my guitar playing created a very intense chemistry.  David Eiland, Gordy Knutson, Tony Glover, Bobby Snitzner would also show up and perform with the band.  It was an honor to work with Doug.  He lived and died for the music.

Doug encouraged us to improvise and create all night.  There’s no replacing Doug to this day and his talent will be missed forever.  Love ya Doug and thank you.
